Making the December Holly
The Holly plant is the birth flower for December! This plant is known for its green leaves and clusters of bright red berries, making it the perfect pop of color for the month of December. When in bloom, the Holly has small white flowers. Stitch this design for yourself or gift it to a friend who was born in December! The December Holly is great for beginner and seasoned crafters alike.
Stitches in the December Holly pattern
We started this festive December Holly embroidery pattern with the Scuba Dive outline in split stitch. This color makes the whole piece pop! Then, we moved on to the Holly leaves. Using three different shades of green helps to give this set of leaves depth, as if they were bunched together on a tree. All of the leaves are stitched with backstitch, making it easy to go around the tight corners.
Once the leaves were complete, we went to those bright red Holly berries! The berries are also stitched with backstitch since they are smaller, tight circles. Finally, we grabbed our Teddy Bear color and put in the tree branch with stem stitch and little French knots in the berries. Overall, this is a super fun pattern to stitch and great for beginners!
